Other Work - People Photography

Sometimes when we're not photographing food we get to photograph people and here's a superb gallery of those images - People Photography. Sometimes we capture lifestyle images...

My Family and Other Animals

So I managed to make it home to the UK in January and hang out with the family…I must admit I really don’t photograph much in the way of family portraits (a couple of times a year I’ll take photos of my family, or help a friend out). But every time I do it they’re always my absolute favorites. So this year I managed to get an absolute winner of my Mum and Dad - it was just one momentary outtake of my Dad being a classic wally, but it’ll be on my wall for a long time to come.

The little fella is my wonderful nephew - Freddie. He’s quite a character and always great fun to hang out with.

For the purposes of tracking the aging process here’s last years post:

PS The black and white makes the teeth look so much less English…

Our work….in print. Always cool.

Tearsheets are pretty darn fabulous and we had some odd ones last year - ranging from priests, to hangover cures, professional football (soccer for you American folk) and the architects and union workers who build the stadiums and even a clock maker who restores historic clocks - the really big ones. I love the variety of the projects we get to cover, and while I do have my favorites it’s phenomenal fun to be working with so many wonderful subjects.

I Make Beautiful Kids…

And it’s true…not of me of course, but of my wonderful friend Stephanie Malcy. It’s my luck to try and capture a bit of that beauty and I got a chance to do that this year when I went to visit Minneapolis and visit some of it’s wonderful agencies. Stephanie relocated with her husband Jay and her expanding family a few years ago and has always been a fantastic supporter of mine - particularly in designing my incredibly wonderful branding (both round one and two). So when I was on my trip I went by with a camera and forced her to let me take a couple of photos, ironically Merik (her eldest boy) has always been a staple in my portfolio (thanks Amanda Sosa Stone). This time it’s Ryah I’m in love with.

So what’s better - colour or black and white?

Oh, and here’s Merik, being a little goofy.

Kansas City - Time for a New Mayor!

Congratulations Kansas City! Tomorrow you’ll wake up to a new mayor (we will probably find out that name this evening). I was very fortunate last year and KC Magazine sent me on a shoot to photograph each of the main mayoral candidates; Mike Burke and Sly James, Deb Hermann and Jim Rowland and of course, the incumbent, Mayor Funkhouser. It was a great shoot, and as it was my first time being eligible to vote for a mayor I really appreciated the opportunity to personally meet each one of these fantastic individuals. Good luck to the winner and thank you to all the candidates for their service to the community.

PS. While I may have a favorite, that’s my secret with the booth, but I’ll be honest I would love either of the two final candidates to be in office - we are spoiled for choice in my opinion.
